Turkey has turned its economy around to become the 17th largest economy in the world last year. Not only the economy, but also changes  in society and politics have made Turkey an important regional player, as an increasing number of scientists, politicians and entrepreneurs believe. Leadership has cycles. Will Turkey have a role in the region and having an impact?

The Turkish government and its leaders are modeling the stages of democracy in practice and the developments in the process.

In this seminar experts will look at Turkey from three perspectives. What is the effect and role of the transition from Ottoman Empire to the current republic of Turkey? What are the economic factors and considerations underlying the recent shift of Turkish foreign policy at a time of deteriorating relations with the European Union? And what is the perspective of a Dutch-Turkish entrepreneur, active in both the Netherlands and Turkey?

This interactive seminar will feature three challenging presentations followed by a panel discussion and debate with the audience.
